I am deeply saddened by the death of Sergeant Major Claudiu Constantin Vulpoiu, who fell on duty in Afghanistan.

This loss of life reminds us that Afghanistan remains the most complex and dangerous place in the world.

We stand by the side of the family of hero Claudiu Constantin Vulpoiu, through these hard times. May God rest him in peace!

Our thoughts go now to the fellow soldiers who were injured in the tragic incident, for whose health we pray.
